As with many Albertans, I have been actively following the changes to the COVID-19 restrictions. All of us are watching to see how these changes affect the Resort. I am sure we are all happy to see that the recently announced increases in restrictions do not limit our ability to enjoy our lakelots any more than those that were already in place.
Outdoor living is a way of life at the Resort which makes physical distancing easy to do. In fact, interacting with friends and family at the lake often naturally leads to being physically distant. Going for ATV rides, meeting at the fishing hole and even just going for a walk can all be easily done while maintaining the required 2 meters of separation. However, visiting the Resort Store will be a little less interactive than usual again this year. Also, the use of the common facilities such as the picnic shelters and community room, will again be by reservation only. With only a little patience, life at the lake can be a safe way to spend our summer together.
I know that many of us have already had at least the first stage of our vaccine, and that all of us are eagerly awaiting the day when we don’t have to worry about pandemic restrictions at all. Until then each of us must continue to be diligent in remembering to abide by the legal requirements when we are at the lake, just as much as when we are in the busy city. We must respect everyone’s right to physical distancing while socially supporting each other as only lake neighbors can do.
On our website, there is a link to some COVID-19 Guidelines (bottom right of the home page). This document highlights some lake specific interpretations of how the restrictions affect us when we are at the Resort. They also provide examples of how typical lake activities should be modified to help everyone abide by the restrictions. It was prepared with the cooperation of our Alberta Health Services inspector and I am very thankful for the assistance from this office. These guidelines have recently been updated to reflect the most recent version of the restrictions. I encourage all of you to review this document with your families before you begin the new season.
